PIANO ACCOMPANIMENT
Andrew is available as a professional accompanist for examinations, recitals and rehearsing. He has many years of professional experience accompanying all instruments and singers at all levels.
The musical rapport between a soloist and their accompanist is one of the most important aspects of a performance. If you are taking a graded examination, diploma, or have an important recital coming up, it's important for you to make time for rehearsing as early as possible. Andrew normally requires one month's notice of any professional engagement.
The cost of examination accompaniment starts at £15 for Grades 1-3. Higher grades, A' Level recitals and above cost more, based on a professional rate of £30 per hour. Please contact Andrew for further information.
REHEARSAL COURSE
One of the most important priorities for musicians is developing the ability to perform well with a piano accompanist. Playing repertoire including a piano accompanist is a component of every grade from Grade One upwards, and an essential performing skill. Too often players assume that when the professional accompanist appears, pieces will magically just fit together and work straight away. This is obviously not always true though.
Andrew offers a special Course of three 45-minute rehearsals to help students develop confidence playing with a piano accompaniment. You may not be taking an exam in the next term, or preparing for a concert performance, but you will still benefit from gaining more musical experience. The Course will include instruction on how to improve your own playing and communicate effectively with your pianist in future.
And of course if you are taking an exam or performing later in the year, this is a perfect opportunity for you to start putting your own solo part together with the piano accompaniment. The Course is suitable for any musician playing any instrument, from around Grade One and upwards to Diploma level. Please note that if you wish to come on this course you should present your piano accompaniment music to Andrew as early as possible.
