Testimonials from Adult Students
"Music has always been a big part of my life. Since my early teens I developed as a self-taught keyboard player, and at some stages I even played in a school band. We did not quite have the X-factor, but it was great fun and a great experience! Unfortunately like many other people I had to make choices in my life and I could never dedicate enough time to music and learn the proper skills, particularly on the piano. Quite a few years have gone by since those days of late night re-hearsals and sound checks, and my equipment has been laying in a corner just taking up some space... At times I thought I would never enjoy playing my favourite musical instrument anymore.
But it is never too late! All you need is enthusiasm, dedication and the right guide! With a change in career came a little more free time and I decided it was the right opportunity to learn playing the piano, starting from the ground up, trying to develope the correct skills. Which is what I am doing now with Andrew's expert lead. With Andrew's enthusiasm and brilliant guidance he is helping me improving rapidly, while focusing on my favourite kind of styles, which are mainly pop, rock, jazz and blues. Swapping my lunch break once a week for a piano lesson has become something that I very much look forward to. My passion for playing has been re-ignited at its fullest and I can finally enjoy the best musical instrument in the world!"

“After completing my grade 8 I had a ten year break from tuition, but recently decided to take up piano lessons again in order to get my technique back up to scratch! With such a long time away from lessons, I was anxious about taking tuition again but I have found Andrew to be very approachable with a relaxed manner, which put me at my ease very quickly.
“I have found Andrew’s lessons very beneficial in brushing up my skills, broadening my repertoire and re-igniting my interest in music. Andrew has been a great musical guide, introducing me to new composers and detailing the story behind the music, so I am aware of the context and musical influences of each composer. This has been really interesting and the new composers and music that Andrew has selected for me have been a really positive challenge.”

"I have always loved music and making music. When I was a child I started piano lessons but did not practice. My mother said, “No practice, no lessons”, and so sadly they stopped. I always regretted that. My daughter takes lessons with Andrew and when my brother said, “What’s stopping you?” I had an epiphany and signed up.
"At first I felt a bit intimidated by how difficult I found really simple music, especially as Andrew made it look easy. Even elementary exercises took lots of effort. Now - nearly a year later onwards - we are into technique, dynamics, rhythm, and less about the mechanics of which note to play.
"Andrew and I recently had a chat about taking exams. He started the conversation by casually saying “Well that’s about Grade 2 standard” about some exercises I was completing. I was astonished to hear that I was so far along without even noticing. I am really pleased and am seriously considering Grades next year."
